St. Alban Chapter #118 Shares Special Times with St. Claire Nursing Home

December 17, 2016 was really special. Hearts were lifted and faces lightened up when the members of Memphis Chapter St. Alban #118 along with St. Alban Lodge # 5 spent time with the residents of St. Claire Nursing Home.  Worthy Matron Sis. Shelia Snow and other members were the bearers of gifts and good cheer.  They carried blankets, t-shirts, razors and more.  Lots of food and fun and games at that special time during the holidays was appreciated. Worthy Patron Bro. Mareko Huley and members of the lodge we there in numbers for this very worthwhile outreach project.   The joint group played Bingo and other games and the morning was delightful. This is the first of many planned visits with this facility. Submitted o/b/o St. Alban #118 by S. Franklin, Memphis DDGM

The Sister's Network with the “Gift for Life Block Walk”

The Memphis District Sunbeam Deputy Chandra McKinner along with Mt. Pleasant Sunbeams, Diamond Sunbeams and Counselors Stacey Bougard and Georgia Walters did some Community Service by assisting The Sister's Network with the “Gift for Life Block Walk”  on October 17, 2015 at Whitehaven High School.   The Sisters Network Inc. is committed to increasing local and national attention to the devastating impact that breast cancer has in the African American community. It provides cancer resources, breast cancer awareness and breast cancer information to its African American women.   It was such a joy for the Sunbeams to help fill bags, pass out literature and assist walkers when needed. Deputy Grand Matron Sharon Franklin came out to support the walk as well as the Sunbeams. We look forward to more Community service events with The Sister's Network in the future.   Memphis Sisters Network President, Mrs. Carolyn Whitney and Sunbeam Deputy McKinner are making arrangements for the Sunbeams to continue the relationship through  the “Teens 4 Pink (T4P)  Program” designed to educate Teen, girls ages 12-16, about the importance of breast health and equip them to become breast health ambassadors/leads for the women in their families. The Memphis District truly takes pride in the Memphis Sunbeam Chapters.
